Isla Dawn at the Atomic Pro x Burning Heart Pro Wrestling show in Content, Liverpool, 08.03.2026
I love shooting live sports. Occasionally though, the process can be tough, or even worse – the match can be boring. I’ve sat through my fair share of 0-0s!
One sport that’s guarantee not to be dull, though – professional wrestling.
I shot two shows for Burning Heart Pro Wrestling last year, and March saw their first event of 2026 – a crossover event with local federation Atomic Pro, based in Liverpool.

There really are few events as sheer fun as live professional wrestling!
A show combines good parts from a huge number of disciplines – the athleticism is incredible (and even more impressive in person), the stagecraft, lighting, music all come together to present production value greater than the sum of its parts, and there are a thousand moving parts happening at once to ensure it all runs smoothly.
For me, the only risk is overshooting – 5000+ photos taken for this particular 3 hour show…

For Atomic Pro x Burning Heart, stars from each establishment locked horns. BHPW is based in the northwest, loosely in Manchester, while Atomic resides at Content, a bar in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle. A good few hundred people were there to see big names like Isla Dawn, Zack Gibson, Kid Lykos, The Models, alongside – or against – local Liverpool talent like Critchy and Tom McColl.
By my count there were 3 titles on the line across 8 matches – and two of those had 8 wrestlers in at once!
Like I said – lots to overshoot!

The work is definitely worth it though – it genuinely is so much fun, and a privilege to see so much talent up close and in person. Atomic Pro x Burning Heart was the first time they’ve collaborated, but after its success I wouldn’t be surprised if more were in the pipeline. I hope so anyway!
