A touchdown at Manchester Titans American Football Club

As a sports photographer in Manchester, I’ve been twiddling my thuimbs a bit since the end of the football season. I’ve been busy with weddings and events, but have misse the visceral thrill of shooting sports in Manchester! So when I saw that I was free the same day the Manchester Titans were at home, I jumped at the chance to shoot my first American Football – or Britball – game here in Manchester.

Immediately made to feel welcome by the staff, players, and other photographers, it was still a steep learning curve. With no real frame of reference for how a match plays out, or where the action would be, I decided to shoot this from a less-traditional point of view. I wandered around and took what was interesting at the time, rather than waiting for what might happen on the pitch.

There’s only a few home matches per year – hopefully I’ll be back at Manchester Titans American Football club in August!
