Players battle during the High Peak derby, Glossop North End vs. New Mills FC
Is there anything better than non-league football? Perhaps non-league football between two local rivals, closely located but in different divisions, so cup ties are the only rare matches between them?
Yep but even better. That match-up but on a cold Tuesday night, in the TORRENTIAL rain. This is the High Peak derby and it was a cracker.

Look at the sheer amount of Glossop teenagers trying to put the New Mills goalkeeper off. Incredible. This is football at its best.
Fortunately for those teenagers, GNE came out on top 2-1 with a couple of relatively late goals, after New Mills had put in a great performance but failed to get the clinching second goal.
There was other football on that night – but for 400+ spectators, nowhere better to be.
