Meet Marple 003: Barkley & Fetch

Part of the Meet Marple project.

Barkley & Fetch: Meet Jane, the owner behind Marple’s canine fashion capital.

Name of business:

Barkley & Fetch

Where did the name come from?

It was our play on existing brand names, or traditional tailor names – with a doggy-twist of course.  We don’t actually have two dogs called Barkley & Fetch, unfortunately – ours are called Jack & Connie.

What do you sell?

Handmade, beautiful dog products – essentially it’s practical but fashionable garments for dogs.  Collars, harnesses, coats, bandanas, bow ties, everything!

How many people are in your team?

We have 1 full time and 1 part time member of staff, alongside myself (Jane) and my husband Kingsley.

How long have you been open?

We used to run the Zipyard in Marple, running alongside Barkley & Fetch since 2016.  But we’ve been full time with B&F on Market Street from 2022.

Are you from Marple?

Nope – I’m originally from Tideswell in Derbyshire.  I went to university in Manchester and then moved out to Marple when we started a family.

What do you like about having your business in Marple/living in Marple?

The accessibility that we have to everything, with lots of different business and all bases covered.  Essentially, you don’t really ever have to leave Marple (and with the roadworks most of the time you can’t!).

Is there anything exciting going on at the moment?

Big news for cat lovers – we’re about to launch our new feline brand!

You can find Barkley & Fetch at 10 Market Street, and at their website (https://barkleyandfetch.com/), on instagram (https://www.instagram.com/barkleyandfetch/), TikTok and on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/barkleyandfetch .
