Jayden Fevrier on the attack for Stockport County vs. Lincoln City, 26.04.2025

On paper the result of this match wasn’t important. Previous heroics meant Stockport’s place in the Playoffs were secure. We could lose the remaining two fixtures and still be in with a chance of Wembley.

And that’s exactly how we started!

Just like the previous home match against Huddersfield, County fell behind. Double whammy this week though as we conceded twice before half time. Sluggish play, sloppy passing, zero pressing. Not looking good at all.

However as I’ve almost definitely said before – never doubt Challinor!

Bold half time substitutions – including taking off captain Fraser Horsfall – paid immediate dividends. Jayden Fevrier, on as a sub, reduced the deficit 3 minutes into the half. Fevs was on fire – running relentlessly at the fullback and thoroughly having him on toast, as we say.

County were absolutely all over Lincoln, battering them without making the breakthrough. Fevrier led the charge time and again, his positive play whipping the crowd up into one of the best atmopsheres of the season.

And then – 78 minutes.

Fevrier, setting up Collar for a customarily well-timed finish. William Guy loves an important goal.

2-2 – were the fans going to accept that? Absolutely not. Neither was Fevrier.

Another Fevs cross from the right, this time to the feet of the man you would absolutely want to be stood there. Tanto tap-in – 3-bloody-2.

The atmosphere at this point was incredible – certainly up there with the Wrexham and Birmingham games from earlier in the season. It’s such a magic ground when the fans are fully on board, and the team’s performance in the second half both provoked and deserved it.

Winning is a habit and this was an important result. Up the comeback Hatters!
