Ryan Glover on the ball for County during Wigan Athletic vs. Stockport County at The Brick Community Stadium, 05.09.26

Due to scheduling issues – i.e. booking in jobs before the fixtures came out, and then holidays clashing with home games – it was already September and I hadn’t made it to a County match yet. The last men’s game I’d been to was the GOAT’s testimonial, a lovely day all around.

But given the opportunity to go pitchside at The Brick Community Stadium for Wigan Athletic vs. Stockport County was a fantastic belated start to the season.

Although the new County orange kit is even extra bright in the sunshine – a nightmare to balance photographically at first! – it was a pleasure to be up close to such a good performance. A 4-0 win over another northwest team, a clean sheet finally, and the performance to go along with the score. Perfect day!
