Edgeley Park, home of Stockport County
I was pitchside again on Saturday for Stockport County vs. Peterborough United, which is always a privilege. A 1 -0 win for County, but not a match that will be troubling the highlight reels at the end of the season. So I thought, with it being a nice day too, it was the time for some photos of Edgeley Park itself.

Considering it’s 135 years old, it looks great – a stadium the club and fans are rightfully proud of. The Cheadle End, on its day, still produces an atmosphere the rival of any other ground in the league. Crucially, the attendance – capped at just under 11,000 – means that most stands are full for the league games. Not to intentionally throw shade, but this is in stark contrast to somewhere like Wigan, where the fans are so spread out across the different stands, it feels disparate and depressing.
There’s plans to increase the maximum attendance to ~18,000 eventually – with promotion the Championship the bare minimum requirement for that to happen – but for now it’s a fantastic number of fans in there every other Saturday, in my opinion.

If we’re going to go full hipster here, there’s some cracking stanchions, brackets, and floodlights at Edgeley Park too. It can sometimes be a right pain to sit in the Family Stand but, like Goodison Park before it with its infamous Restricted Views, there’s certainly no lack of character.
Nice one Edgeley Park, here’s to another 135 years.
